The National Academy of Vehicle and Automotive Industries (NAVA) has officially announced the launch of the “Glossary of Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Maintenance Terminology”, as part of a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language. The initiative aims to develop and enrich Arabic technical content within the automotive sector.
The official announcement took place during NAVA’s participation in the Human Capability Development Conference, held on April 13, 2025, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, along with a distinguished group of officials and leaders from various sectors.
A Linguistic-Tech Initiative Supporting Vision 2030
This unique initiative is designed to unify the technical language used within the electric vehicle sector—one of the key development pillars of Saudi Vision 2030. It contributes to the enrichment of Arabic scientific terminology and supports the region’s rapid technological evolution.
This project reflects NAVA’s commitment to knowledge transfer and technology localization by developing specialized linguistic tools that support technicians, engineers, trainers, and students, establishing Arabic as a language of production and knowledge in industrial environments.
Initial Release Includes 1,000 Terms, Full Glossary in Progress
The launch event featured the release of an initial version of the glossary, containing 1,000 specialized technical terms. It will gradually expand to include over 5,000 terms currently being collected and reviewed. The glossary includes a range of vocabulary related to electric motors, smart charging technologies, batteries, vehicle maintenance, and other modern automotive concepts, with accurate and accessible definitions suitable for both specialists and non-specialists.
The glossary will be updated regularly to stay aligned with the fast-paced technological advancements in this field.
It will be made available digitally through the “Siwar” platform, providing trusted and easy access for professional, academic, and educational communities across the region.
